Vishu Mythology & Legend
Vishu marks the Sun's transition into Medam (Mesha/Aries). The Vishukkani is set up the previous night so that the first sight upon waking is auspicious. It is also associated with Krishna and the legend of Narakasura's defeat.
Vishu Puja Rituals & Vidhi
- The previous night, set up Vishukkani (gold, rice, fruits, flowers, mirror, lamp) in the puja room.
- At dawn, wake and view Vishukkani with closed eyes, then open them to see the auspicious items first.
